NEW LINE-UP COMPLETE

A Big Welcome to MARK SHARPE (Ex Mean Red Spiders) who will be fronting JUST BLUES with his great vocals and fantastic brand of blues harmonica.

AAs Gary moves over onto guitar, we would like to extend a warm welcome, on bass and vocals, to Alistair. Alistair brings his own very special style of bass playing and singing to Just Blues. We hope you will all enjoy the very high standard he has brought to the band. We are also looking forward to hearing Garys' smooth guitar work, which many of you are already  familiar with, but he will be still be playing one or two numbers on  bass as well, when Alistair fronts the band vocally.

All in all the new look Just Blues line up still maintains the high standard of playing you have come to expect from our shows.

HALSTEAD GAZETTE ( 17th Nov.)

CURTAIN CALL

Neil Hardy’s sell-out, tribute band night at Halstead’s Empire Theatre last Sunday, featured class act Freeway as top of the bill. However, for me and, on observation, many in the audience, the success of the night was the group on first.

Just Blues had a line-up that was always interesting. The lead vocalist and guitarist commanded his listeners from the outset, using his impressive stature well, without resorting to gimmicks of any kind. Both bass and blues guitarists took their solo spots as well as they formed part of a very musical ensemble.

The very competent drummer, i.e.. he set the variety of tempos superbly, controlled his team with delightful humour. As for Razor(?) he was something else; a harmonic player with attitude!

Importantly, Just Blues, fulfilled its title; its sound was mellow and well balanced, each member could take the vocal line, and it seemed as if they had much more material to offer. Certainly this group could easily do a gig on its own.

We have been playing together since forming a Brass section in the band "Built For Comfort". After playing and deputising in many Soul, Funk and Blues bands we now help out JUST BLUES, and others, when they need a slightly FATTER SOUND.

FREE FANS

I'm sure, like me, there are many fans of the legendary "Free" . I personally followed this band before their heyday in the late 1960's and have many memories of being only yards away from Paul Kossoff at The Barn, Little Bardfield, in Essex. Peter and I used to walk there most Saturdays to see many bands.

It gives me great pleasure to introduce to Ipswich, a truly fine tribute band from The North East of England, FREEWAY, fast becoming one of the most authentic reproductions of the Classic band, Free! We have arranged two dates, one at the Manor Ballroom, Saturday 11th November, and then Sunday 12th November at The Halstead Empire Essex. On both dates we will playing support, so get behind it and relive some classic memories or just come and see a great band. Ticket info to follow in local press and Radio.

Former Mean Red Spider - Mark Sharpe -  is back playing again.  Razor, as he's now been dubbed has joined Just Blues.   Sandy Sutherland and the lads are delighted to have him on board and I am sure I speak for hundreds of local blues fans when I say it's good to have you back, Mark.
