Just
Blues
(The Story So Far -
continued)
May 2005. Here we are
again nearly half way through the year. We have had a major change in the bass
playing department. Malcolm Graham has decided that due to pressures of work and
our fairly busy schedule this year that he would stand down after 9 years in the
engine room. We wish him all the best for anything that he gets into in the
future. His last gig was at the Burnley Mechanics Blues Festival on Easter
Sunday where we opened the day for the American bands. A wonderful gig to retire
from the band on. We played well, and were appreciated by a good crowd.
We ran a few auditions and
settled on Gary Nunn from Ipswich whom we all knew from Andre DeMoler’s band.
Gary stood out from the rest with his ability to learn very quickly and the
amount of work that he put in before his audition. He only needed a couple of
rehearsals and was comfortable with the songs that we play. On behalf of the
band “welcome aboard Gary ”. Your smooth style complements the band well.
We have had some good gigs
this year already and are once again at the Colne Festival in August. We have
also won the position of opening a very special gig at Cressing Temple, near
Braintree, Essex on July 2nd. This is a charity event for teenage
cancer , a very worthy cause, and boasts The Blues Band, Dr. Feelgood and Geno
Washington to follow our opening set. We would like to thank Mel and Sue for
rearranging our gig at the British Legion Bury St Edmunds to allow us to play
this gig. We look forward to seeing you on the 30th July instead.
Hope this has brought you
anoraks up to speed and look forward to meeting you at the various gigs around
and about. Bye for now. Peter R.
With the departure of Peter R. from the group, the story will continue in the
new section JUST NEWS. This section will be continually updated, hopefully
weekly.
